8 Essential Habits of Highly Successful People

Chloe Delaunay

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to be so driven, so motivated and so successful? Well, for some people drive is something that is inherent but not for all of us. Some of us need a little help to stay focused and motivated and to keep moving towards what we want to achieve.

Whether you’re a person who is pretty good at staying motivated or need a little help, I’ve put together a few points of what contributes to the mindset of successful people- it’s not all down to luck, working on some of the areas below will help you develop yourself and become more successful in what you do.

1. Don’t take failure too seriously

In my opinion there is no such thing as failure- only learning and learning is how we better ourselves. Even if it’s tough be prepared to try again!

2. Deal with negativity

Learn to accept who you are, we’re not all great at everything but that’s ok! Don’t beat yourself up about it. Work to your strengths and when a negative thought pops in to your head put a positive spin on it.

3. Set goals and go for them

Successful people set goals and work towards them- they are determined and accountable. Make your goals SMART so you are able to know when you’ve really achieved them.

4. Be flexible

We often come across stumbling blocks but don’t let them get in your way. Find a way to work around problems, reassess and change your path where necessary. Changing your path isn’t failing!

5. Be decisive

Successful people don’t hang around and hope for the best. They decide to take control and plan the path to get to where they want to be.

6. Stretch zone!

Are you too warm and cosy in your comfort zone? Do you need a little push to stretch yourself a little? Your comfort zone is where we stagnate, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and in to your stretch zone will ensure you develop. It will help to keep you motivated, energised, challenged and learning.

7. Constantly learning

Whether it be from reading, courses, discussion with others or learning from previous experiences the only way we keep moving forward is by learning and growing.

8. Always look on the bright side

Happy attracts happy, misery attracts misery- it’s a well-known fact! If you have a positive outlook it’s more likely that positive things will happen to you. It also goes without saying that you’ll be a much nicer person to be around and everyone likes a happy person whether that be at home, at work or wherever. So always look for that silver lining and take the best from each experience.

So, give some of these a try for a couple of weeks and see how they work for you, what have you got to lose?
